About Jody Dunn
Jody Dunn was born in 1969 and has 4 children: Charlie, Saskia, Lucy and Cameron. Jody is multi-lingual speaking English, Finnish, Spanish, conversational Swedish and French, and basic German and Dutch.
A brown belt in Judo, she enjoys languages, poetry, and has travelled widely.
Educated at City of London School for Girls, Barbican, and at Woodhouse Sixth Form (for 1 year) where she achieved 12 O levels
Left school at 17 and became a DJ working at Ashton’s and Le Palais Clubs, London, before working in Finland for three years as a DJ and radio presenter. For 2 years she travelled DJ-ing in Malta, Sweden, Bermuda and Cyprus and did a stint for the BBC – CWR (Coventry and Warwickshire Radio).
Realising she would need A levels to get to University Jody studied and sat them in six weeks passing English and History. Graduated in 1996 from St Andrews achieving a First with Honours in Spanish and International Relations.
She was in the final of the World Debating Championships in Cork (1996) and in 1998 won the European Debating Championships in London – Jody was presented with the winning trophy by Cherie Blair.
After St Andrews she achieved a post-graduate diploma in Law (CPE) 1996-97, City University with Commendation, and then went to Bar School at the Inns of Court School of Law where she was graded outstanding – in the top fifteen in the country. Jody is currently a barrister for Amicus Chambers (since July 2003) working principally in the courts at Hartlepool and Middlesbrough. She started working in criminal law before specialising in Family Law. She is the law specialist for the Middlesbrough Gazette and has a column in the paper.
Jody has written two books – Control Your Divorce (June 2003) and How to help the children survive the divorce (July 2004).
