Recent opinion poll shows Liberal Democrats on rise April 27, 2006
Posted by in : News , comments closedNationally the Liberal Democrats have benefitted from the Labour Parties troubles by an increase in their opinion ratings, up three percent, whilst Labour is at its lowest opinion ratings for quite a while.
Local Party Chairman Kevin Kelly today said that he hoped that this swing would be translated into gains for the party at next weeks local elections. We only need two gains to end Labour overall majority on Hartlepool Council, and hopefully this would then be reflected in the Mayor’s Cabinet.
It is down to the voters of Hartlepool to send a message loud and clear that we need change, we have been badly let down. There is not a day that goes past that a minister is having to apologise for something that has gone wrong again, and in the latest debacle by the Home Office it is possible that it could put you and your family at risk, although the Home Office think they know were they may be, but they might not be.
We have been misled and lied to on a variety of issues, and they grow daily.
On May 4th please support your Liberal Democrat Candidate, do not waste your vote by voting for someone who cannot make a difference. Make your vote count…..
Local Elections Update April 19, 2006
Posted by in : News , comments closedCampaigning across Hartlepool is well under way for the Local Election on May 4th. The Labour Party are consistent in their leaflets attacking the Liberal Democrats, the only party that they see as strong challengers, they are also consistent that none of the leaflets have the candidates home address on, I wonder why. We had an amusing incident when deliverers for the Labour Party delivered one of their candidates leaflets, unfortunately it went to the wrong ward. The candidate in question a former councillor took the credit for work that was done whilst he was out of office, obviously a miracle worker or a —-.
Kevin Kelly chair of Hartlepool Liberal Democrats today slammed some of Labours tactics in certain wards in the town, he commented ” Some of their election litrature is disgraceful and I thought that they were better than that. It certainly shows that they are determined to win by whatever costs”. I firmly belive that the voters of Hartlepool will see this for what it is. Desperation tactics by a party that is rattled and concerned.
The people of Hartlepool have a choice on May 4th, either more of the same or a vote for change, an end to single party domination.
The Liberal Democrats are that Real Alernative as the results of the General Election in 2005 showed.
If voters want a lift to the polls on polling day they can contact us via the web site or phone Arthur Preece on 870666 or Kevin Kelly on 428489 or Victor Tumilty on 429402 and they will foward the information to the relative candidates alternative there will be leaflets coming out with local contact details on.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to pledge your support.
Tom Snowdon April 13, 2006
Posted by in : News , comments closedThe Chairman of Hartlepool Liberal Democrats Kevin Kelly paid tribute to the late Tom Snowdon a member of the Hartlepool party and a candidate for the Local Elections in May. Tom died suddenly and his passing left a lot of people mourning a true gentleman. In the clearest sense of the word, he was and will be remembered by colleagues as a very methodical planner, but with a willingness and capacity to help others. He was a very proud family man and will be sadly missed by his sons, daughter , grandchildren and many friends.
His passing leaves a void, in many peoples hearts.
Our thoughts and condolences are sent to Toms family at this difficult time.
Local Elections 2006 April 13, 2006
Posted by in : News , comments closedThis years Local Elections are well underway with the Liberal Democrats campaigning in 14 wards accross the town. Because of the death of Tom Snowdon the Brus Election will now be held on 8th June.
The Liberal Democrats showed in last years General Election that they are the only challenger to Labour in Hartlepool by taking 30.4% of the vote compared to 11.4% for the Conservatives and 3.5% for UKIP.. Party Chairman Kevin Kelly said ” we are contesting seats in Labour’s heartland and hope that people support our candidates and bring about change in Hartlepool. People last year supported us and we hope to maintain that support and hopefully build on it to enable us to make gains accross the town and help to reduce one parties domination of Hartlepool Council”.
